Senior Data Analyst - Financial Services

About the role

You will be working with one of our Financial Services clients to help implement a Data Quality program Operating Model. You must have a strong analytical and problem-solving skills and it will be highly desirable if you have industry experience in data, data management and/or regulatory initiatives.

Key responsibilities and tasks

  • Implement processes for the effective internal Data Management controls by monitoring business data quality reports with associated key indicators & metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the business, resulting in reduction of inherent risks
  • Implement Data Quality reporting through the definition and implementation of business, data and system related control and remediation frameworks at points of capture to resolve data quality exceptions
  • Collaborate with Data Stewards to ensure that appropriate Data Quality rules and controls are in place within their process and to review the Data tracing as well as the Business and system lineage related to their process
  • Review process maps including Data Domains, Data Concepts, Data Elements and make updates to account for changes with support from Data Steward (e.g., business, or regulatory driven changes)
  • Attend meetings with key stakeholders to review the appropriateness of Trusted Source assignment for Critical Data Elements (CDEs) within their process, and to discuss open Data Quality exceptions/ issues relating to processes and provide SME support for remediation
  • Plan and implement the transition to the appropriate Business Risk & Control team of all the above processes (and others as defined)
  • Proactively manage dependencies, risks, exceptions, and issues, using the businesses’ processes, templates, tools & standards
  • Develop and deliver presentations and structured documentation to key stakeholders covering project / program status, resourcing and plans

Skills and experience

  • Hands-on skills in writing SQL Queries
  • Good understanding of project management with experience working in large data programmes
  • Good knowledge of global markets trading products (Fixed Income, Equity, Currencies & Commodities) and/or securities services (Prime, Clearing)
  • Ability to define data requirements including using script tools and analysing/interpreting code where appropriate
  • Fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications
  • Hands on experience with data and databases & skills in troubleshooting data issues, Data Modelling, Data migration tasks
  • Skills in scripting languages / programming – Preference for Python
  • Exposure to build things from technical standpoint
    • Help the Technology team and provide the logic of the enhancement in logic of the algorithm
    • Some experience on the things like QlikView and building solutions for end usage like analytics
  • Analytical inclination
    • How to analyse the data not just from process standpoint but from algorithmic standpoint which can help for the enhancement of our validation process
    • Understanding of the metrics which can be used to report for the progress / updates etc.
